I wanted it to be flavorful and powerful. Giving a minion +1/+1 for 2 mana isn't great, but getting an extra card is pretty nice, especially in Pure Paladin, when you get a card from outside of your usual Paladin pool. I think the effect is actually quite good for both classes, even if Priest has Renew, which probably is better than this, but Priest spells are actually really good, for many Paladin archetypes as well. You have strong buffs (Feast, Grave Rune and Apotheosis) for more aggresive decks or removal (both hard: the Shadow words and small: holy smite, penace) and AOE for more midrange or control decks. If you're feeling lucky, you can go for the extra expensive spells like Mass Ressurection.
I think this card fits pretty well into existing archetypes for both classes.
