@DustenStein It's a shame people don't seem to be getting the intent of the archetype. I really like the concept and it's a great exploration of Demon Hunter mechanics.

Dude, this is not the only card for this archetype. I made 4 other cards with a condition "If your hero has 10 or less Health..." all but one of which have Lifesteal. This is meant to be a powerful weapon you can combo with other spells/minions to get the condition completed. You go to low Health and then immediately back up so that you are not within "almost dead" range

As an alternative, as I kow you're not a huge fan of this... Wouldn't it work better as a 4/2 "If you hero has 15 or less health, this weapon has lifesteal" type effect?

But you're not actually coming back from the brink, at best this weapon takes you back to the health you had before the attack, and that is still well within the amount of damage that most classes can put out in a single turn. An archetype designed around intentionally letting yourself get down to such low health that you can be immediately killed isn't going to be popular or successful.

And people seem to misunderstand the concept still It's called "Back from the Brink Demon Hunter" because you are almost dead and then come back with Lifesteal cards. It's not flawed if the cards are right.
3/5/2 could work, though I wanted this to be a tool to lower your hero's Health on purpose in the most Demon Hunter way. I think this idea for the weapon doesn't work then

@nutter the wordimg of halving Health refers yo current health, not maximum health. There is this one Monster hunt boss that has a hero power that halves your health so it's fine as it is imo

I think the thing with Flash's suggestion was a miscommunication. I think what he meant is 6 atk 3 dura 3 cost

Given that this entire archetype is based around the concept of intentionally keeping your health at a state where it could be one-shot in a single turn by a lot of classes I think the premise is kinda flawed. The wording on this particular card could also be improved to make it clearer how exactly the halving would work.

I.e:
"Lifesteal. After your hero attacks, reduce your remaining health by half." Assuming that is how the weapon is intended to work. Also by stating health rather than remaining helalth it kind of implies you're halving the maximum health in which case you wouldn't be able to heal back up anyway.

I agree with Caesar that it should be 5 Attack. That way, the amount of Health needed for no net Health loss is 10 or less, which gives it a nice symmetry with the other Brink DH cards. (Oh, and also balance reasons I guess.)
DustenStein (creator)2 years ago
Yeah. Since you'd heal less each time your Health is halved you'd get less Health back

What???? Are you confused, Flash? A 5/3/3 would be drastically weaker than this, let alone a 6/3/3.
Flash33 2 years ago
Not sure how I feel about this. It's a neat idea but I feel it's too weak for its effect. Perhaps making it a 5/3/3 or 6/3/3 or something like that might justify its penalty.

Maybe give it +1 durability?
Caesar (4.1)2 years ago
I would dare say it could be 5 Attack with that downside :smorc: but wait for more opinions as I'm not sure here...
Extremely cool idea for your archetype btw

Too weak?

A powerful weapon has its cost. Made to synergise with my 10 or less Health DH package. Attacking while at 9 Health or above will lower your Health in the end. That's quite the downside unless you use them together with attack buffs or, as I said, my "Brink DH" package. Attacking when almost dead will give you some Health back.
Rounded up.
Thoughts?
