Kosmyc (3.5)1 year ago @CakeIsGood Deathrattle Rogue is too slow to beat the burn decks, and shockspitter brann isn't as good as people say it is. Sure it has good burn and even possibly good board control, but it's slower than either Discolock or Frost DK. It beats Bomb Warrior handily but the problem with Bomb Warrior isn't that it's overperforming, it's that it prevents other control decks from playing the game period
Kosmyc (3.5)1 year ago to balance these, I propose these solutions
1. Ban Tome Tampering in Duels. It's banned in Wild, ban it here.
2. Make Bitter Cold (Frost Spell Damage +2) Ultra Rare Tier 1, or Tier 2. The Spell Damage +1 treasure is already an ultra rare, as is the Tier 2 Spell Damage +3. No reason for this to be basically guarenteed.
3. Nerf Glaciaxe. This weapon is cracked for absolutely no reason and pushes the burn package way harder than it needs to be. 6 mana would be fine (Arcanite Reaper + Doomhammer + huge board presence is worth more than 4 mana, sorry)
5. Rotate some old sets out. There's a huge amount of set bloat, and the main reason why DK (espicially Frost) is so strong is because they usually get what they need from two or three expansions total (Usually, Core + Lich King + one other of choice). Rotating out sets like Scholomance or Darkmoon, or hell even Alterac Valley would give a huge amount of breathing room as far as deck synergy goes. Imagine a meta where we get, say, Ashes of Outland cards and Mean Streets of Gadgetzan! While adding these sets would mean next to nothing to today's meta, if we rotated out a bunch of sets, suddenly we get a brand new meta.
6. Rework Bomb Warrior's hero power. I think having a dedicated slow deck is fine, but I don't think it should completely hard counter every other slow deck in the game. You could either make it 2 damage per Bomb (using the Explosive token from Rise of Shadows), or make the Warrior have to pay Armor for a bomb (maybe if it consumed, say, 3-4 Armor per free bomb, suddenly you aren't having to try and burn through 80 HP while dealing with free fireballs on your face)

Went 12-0 in like 30 minutes with Frost DK with +2 Frost Spell Dmg and Mummy Magic, just completely obliterating my opponents. My deck had 4 copies of Lady Deathwhisper, 7 Glacial Advances and 6 Harbingers of Winter. Yeah.

You've got three decks
- Frost DK, who thanks to bucket manipulation is basically guanreteed both Frost Spell Damage +2 (which is really good when you are slingy 8+ spells at opponents face), as well as good buckets because they can't pull class cards from non Core Set/Lich King bundles. I'd say at least 60% of decks that you run into (more like 90% post three wins) are Frost DK and usually win by turn 5 or 6. Even if you some how manage to win their huge burst damage combos, they still have multiple "Let me just ignore your board." tools.
- Discolock. While not as aggregious in my opinion as Frost DK as far as manipulating the actual systems of Duels, Discolock still has Malchezzar's Imp + Tome Tampering. Yea.
You can fairly easily construct a deck that contains only discard synergies and usually win by turns 3-4 by having what's essentially 1 mana 4 mana bodies or spells played for absolutely free. Even decks that can clear that stuff that early fold to the 7 mana 19/19 with Rush and Lifesteal. Wait, there's three of them? Oh yeah, it's fairly trivial to keep that as the most expensive part of the deck, hence making Expired Merchant = three Kill'mox.
- Bomb Warrior. I'm aware that bomb warrior is statistically balanced if not weak, but it prevents anything slow from ever functioning properly. If you have even 1 point of armor, you gain 0 damage Fireballs every turn. An easy comparison would be to Blood DK, who has less health/armor generation, less removal, and can only deal 3 damage at the end of each turn STARTING when playing a War Golem! Very stupid, and it keeps other control decks from being able to check Frost DK/Discolock/other aggro/combo decks like Shockspitter Brann.

Poondaedalin2 years ago I kinda wish Mercenaries was less self-contained. I really like the core gameplay of it, but it's so painfully grindy that it gets boring, and it's completely isolated from the other modes, so you can't play Standard or BG as a byway of improving your Mercs. Apart from that, yeah, the game seems way better and more F2P-friendly than it used to be. It's by no means perfect (as the Battlegrounds meetup sorta demonstrated), but it's definitely better.

With there being several modes that dont require any p2w and the extremely improved gold system, its been fun these days of playing after a few months of break. Things like duplicate protection also make buying something like a ton of packs a lot more safe. I generally like the new cards, even if some are a bit unbalanced. personally, i cant wait for new expansion to come out so i can make a pyro-mech mage. and this probably doesnt belong in agressive chat but whatever

I kinda wish Mercenaries was less self-contained. I really like the core gameplay of it, but it's so painfully grindy that it gets boring, and it's completely isolated from the other modes, so you can't play Standard or BG as a byway of improving your Mercs. Apart from that, yeah, the game seems way better and more F2P-friendly than it used to be. It's by no means perfect (as the Battlegrounds meetup sorta demonstrated), but it's definitely better.

imo hearthstone has been improving, slowly but its starting to get there. With there being several modes that dont require any p2w and the extremely improved gold system, its been fun these days of playing after a few months of break. Things like duplicate protection also make buying something like a ton of packs a lot more safe. I generally like the new cards, even if some are a bit unbalanced. personally, i cant wait for new expansion to come out so i can make a pyro-mech mage. and this probably doesnt belong in agressive chat but whatever
