:boomS: Eha. When you reveal?
Nichodemons 1 year ago
@King_Kuba do you know if it is possible to edit sets you have published?
King Kuba (creator)1 year ago
@HolyBrandon Yeah, you could leave me some space today :woodenReno: Big respect for that
King Kuba (creator)1 year ago
@Marleon I do get what you mean. Fortunately, besides Bringers of Doom card able to be paired with other sets, there's actually at least 2 archetypes for each class this expansion:
Warrior - Armor, Weapon
Shaman - Murloc, Overload, Nature
Rogue - Secret, Pirate, Capsule
Paladin - Secret, 8-Cost
Hunter - Secret, Big Charge (Midrange), Small Charge (Aggro)
Druid - Token, Arcane, Hero Attack
Warlock - Control, Pain
Mage - Secret, Arcane
Priest - Inner Fire, Heal
Demon Hunter - Illidari, Big Demon
+Anything else you're able to to theorycraft with what I left in Neutral. There are some purposeful designs there, a few of them pretty much introducing new archetypes on their own
Marleon (4.2)1 year ago
Im not sure if those aren't single packages. For example, Warrior only has weapon support. All expansion cards go into that specific archetype. There's no real variety of archetypes that the set provides. Since it's a custom set, its not *that* big of a deal, but as a design philosophy, it implies that the class would have to go with that specific deck or bust, because they got no cards for other archetypes. And if that's the case, the set becomes really polarizing, because either the class has a very strong deck or no deck whatsoever.

Also @King_Kuba are you ok with me leaking my expansion this sunday? i don't want to take your spotlight :woodenReno:

@Marleon Just like with C'Thun in Whispers of the Old Gods, Galakronds, Voyage's Nagas and a few more examples, Bringers of Doom has its neutral mechanic that then most of the classes use for different benefits. This time, I've taken it to the max level - each class works towards its survival and payoff in some different ways, achieving different results. So I would disagree on it being a single package (Unless you mean Neutral, cause that's a definition of a package for everyone) but I myself must say - this set was quite experimental. It's the first out of three, so I wanted to go with something as insane as the theme :gonk: But I also left some room for the future - Legendary Secrets, Abandoned Locations, Justicekeepers, literally half of Bringers of Doom set and of course what's up to come is all a part of a bigger plan :reno:
Marleon (4.2)1 year ago
I mean fair, the "few small packages" is usually 2 or 3 at most, but still its more than 1
Marleon (4.2)1 year ago
Especially since HS expansions are all about introducing a few small packages for each class, while that expansion only introduced a single package for each class
Marleon (4.2)1 year ago
Well, I was talking my about the actual mechanics, than the theming but I can see your point. What I was refering to, is that no matter how cool a new mechanic is, putting it into too many places creates a feeling of over density. HS expansions are made of tiny packages, often a specific type of card being given to most/all classes, but the whole set isn't really dedicated to the classes getting pretty much the same tools, but slightly repainted.
Mostly those cards that share a theme, be it Hero Cards, Colossals, Caravans, Ranked spells, legendary Mercenaries, Tradeable or Frenzy, are very loosly connected by the theme, but mechanically they are nothing alike and often dont get support, but they are just stand alone cards.
With Doom Clocks for example, it felt like every class go the same core package and some other misc cards

woah woah woah, let's stop here, shall we? I don't think that criticising expansions is what we want to do so generally. Sure, some have their flaws but a bunch are great. If you want to give constructive feedback becayse you might've found something you didn't like in an expansion, tell that to that expansion's creator :finleySmile:

@Marleon yeah, it feels like most sets haven't really been put that much thought into. Like its always like some random location which doesn't exist, or the theme is too broad, or the theme is not really holding up with hearthstone themes, being too boring to look at.
Marleon (4.2)1 year ago
One problem I have with custom expansions is definetly the overreliance on its respective keyword gimmick. I feel that was a bit of the case with Bringers of Doom. I like the concept, but it felt way overtuned
Gosha305 1 year ago
Like, they're cool and all, but I'm on the site for cards and these ain't cards.
Gosha305 1 year ago
I'm personally just not a fan of these teasers.

I actually love expansions more, but only when they have

1) A great idea and concept (not a random bunch of cards without any flavour), with a theme that is not already too overused (e.g. Pandaria);

2) Good custom keywords that are not just another Spellburst or Frenzy, keywords that are simple, but smart (like Doom Clock, or like Colossals in Hearthstone);

3) Good art and presentation, something that fits Hearthstone, not too realistic nor too cartoonish;

Kuba's expansions do meet all of these, and I damn like it :qLOVE:

At some point making set after set just becomes sorta old I guess. Would rather see interesting individual cards than a huge dump. While it takes a lot of work, it's not the most pleasant to get through and its widely incosistant, because some cards are always gonna be good and other are gonna be bad
FriendlyShadow 1 year ago
:cat: 3.3 star rating. Why? People don't be stupid! This is a 5 stars content.
MorgenStern 1 year ago
5 stars already
FriendlyShadow 1 year ago
yeah, but I didn't like that expansion that much, because Doomclock wasn't interesting for me enough and most of the cards were build around Doomclock. This mini-set could be a lot of interesting cards and mechanics. I can't wait to see more.

@Kapiork oh you poor soul. King Kuba made a whole expansion called "Bringers of Doom" while you were hibernating :annoy-o-tron:

IT IS REALLY COOL BUT SHOW US PLEASE

I have no idea what this is about, but I have a feeling it's gonna be really cool.
