This way you always have an elemental to activate your other elementals. Having Magnetic is completely unnecessary.

It makes sense for elementals to merge with other elementals...kind of. Although yes, the word "Magnetic" quite limits the applications of the Keyword.
But the problem is that this removes all the synergies with spells that your deck can have, and the biggest problem is that the minions with Magnetic don't activate their Battlecries. Because you're not playing them as minions. They don't even count as being summoned.
